Dorrie Tames Powell

Nurturing our connection to the places and spaces we live in and to each other, is the fuel that feeds Dorrie’s passion for real estate. The What, How, and Why we do what we do matters, but so does the Where. She is interested in exploring the art home, and how it can support us in living beautifully.

 

Born in Santa Barbara, Dorrie is the third generation of her family to work, play and raise a family here. She has extensive knowledge of the area and a deep ongoing connection to the community.

 

Her path to a career in real estate was guided by a love of art and travel. Directly out of school, she worked as a professional dancer, performing with various companies including, Santa Barbara Ballet Theater, Repertory West Dance Theater, and in television and film. She was then introduced to the world of design after she met her husband of 35 years, who was focused on innovative and sustainable architecture.

 

Together they built a design and development company, where Dorrie contributed to the creation of healthy, efficient, artful homes and workplaces and honed the craft of real estate investing. She has either lived or developed properties in most of the neighborhoods in Santa Barbara and she has an intimate understanding of the things that make each of them special.

 

Along with her husband and two children, she spent time over the years, sailing through Central America, an experience that widened her concept of home and how to make a meaningful connection to it.

 

The synergistic skills developed from all these experiences inform and elevate her practice of real estate.

 

With a reputation for honesty, integrity, and an engaging interpersonal style, Dorrie strives to make the entire process of buying, selling and managing her client's properties smooth and enjoyable.

 

Whether she is delivering an inspiring home, locating a rewarding investment property, or assisting in the pursuit of a new project, her extensive understanding of the many ways that clients can incorporate beauty, creativity, sustainable design, and sound business investing into their properties helps ensure the greater financial and personal well being for all her clients.

 

Beyond her real estate practice, Dorrie loves hiking, surfing, reading and learning, music, and dancing, especially when she gets to share them with her friends and family.
